Early Birds get the Oil
With fuel prices at the pumps rising again this autumn, it will come as no surprise that the cost of heating oil is also likely to increase this winter. The good news is that oil is generally 35% cheaper than this time last year, so the ‘early birds’ filling their tanks this year will still save money. We are getting used to oil price fluctuations but the current volatility in the market price of crude oil, where prices have doubled since February’s low of $32 a barrel, have got all the pundits guessing. There are those who predict prices could be back above $100 a barrel by the year end, sighting global shortages and uncertainty in the financial markets, but this would have a major impact of economic recovery around the world. At the moment there is plenty of oil in the pipeline and the cost of domestic heating (28 second burning) oil has remained pretty stable throughout the summer months, but all that could change with the onset of higher demand this winter. So now is a good time to check the level in your tank and to order oil for next winter before prices start to increase.
Making Sense of Oil Prices
With fuel prices at the pumps rising again this autumn, it will come as no surprise that the cost of kerosene based fuel oils is also likely to increase this winter. The good news is that oil is generally 35% cheaper than this time last year, so those taking the opportunity to fill tanks now will still save money.
A GOOD TIME TO BUY HEATING OIL!
The decision by OPEC, the organisation of oil-producing nations, to cut the number of barrels it supplies, means that buying domestic heating oil now is likely to be a wise move
INTERNET BANKING

My oil storage tank is some way from the road. Will you be able to reach it?
Most of our tankers have a 120ft maximum hose. This means we can deliver even if your tank is tucked away. You can help us by ensuring there are no unnecessary obstacles between the road/driveway and your storage tank so we have as straight a run with the hose as possible.
What is the minimum delivery?
The minimum delivery we can make by law is 500 litres.
My place has difficult access. Will you get there?
Our fleet has tankers of several sizes, included mini-tankers specially designed to negotiate the trickiest of lanes and turns.

Can you make unattended deliveries if I'm out?
Yes, as long as we can gain access to your tank. All our deliveries are metered and you will receive a printed readout of the precise amount dispensed. Our meters are checked by Trading Standards.

What's the law on oil storage?
A little oil can go a long way once spilt, travelling through the ground into waterways. Even a small oil spillage can harm your local environment. It's worth spending a few minutes checking that your storage tank is leak-free and complies with the rules. Look at the Environment Agency website, www.environment-agency.gov. uk for full information. It's also worth checking that your household insurance covers oil leaks, because it can be costly to clean up.
What if I discover a leak or spill?
If you have an oil spill, ring the Environment Agency emergency hotline on 0800 80 70 60. It's also a good idea to have a spill kit on hand so you can mop up the worst straight away. This should contain absorbent materials, drain blockers and leak sealing putty.
What's the difference between kerosene and gas oil?
Most domestic heating systems run on kerosene, which is also known as 28-second oil (or more commonly home heating oil). Kerosene (kero) provides a cleaner and more efficient burn than Gas oil (red diesel), which is also known as 35-second oil. Gas oil is more commonly used in agriculture and industry. Gas oil is less combustible than kerosene but does give slightly more heat per unit.
Will you check if I need a new tank and what if I do?
